Conveyancing is the legal transfer of the Title Deeds of a property from one person to another. In order to transfer the legal ownership of a property, a Contract must be drawn up stating the terms of the transfer between the vendor (current owner) and the purchaser. This Deed is then registered in the Registry of Deeds and/or the Land Registry which only a Solicitor is authorised to carry out, hence the need for a Solicitor to act on your behalf.
